Welcome to Oak Meadow Montessori School
Welcome to Oak Meadow Montessori School! We are honored that you are considering our school for your children’s education. I hope you will book a virtual visit to learn more about how we awaken every child’s natural desire to learn by cultivating a nurturing, inclusive, and vibrant Montessori experience.
Our talented and experienced staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of every student. Our goal is to help each child develop independence, curiosity, and a love for learning through careful implementation of the Montessori philosophy. Our trained guides, Montessori materials, and specially prepared classroom environments aid the children in their development of greater concentration and self-discipline, helping them to experience the joys of discovery and accomplishment.
Sitting on 10-acres of land, our park-like outdoor areas encourage children to run and play with freedom and joy. There are ample opportunities for exploration, observation, and documentation of the natural world. Whether walking to Collins Hill Park, taking samples of Collins Hill Lake to examine under a microscope, or working in our community gardens, our students develop a love of playing in the dirt and being outside..
We understand that Montessori education is likely different from any type of schooling you may have experienced. While there is no secret formula that can be applied to all children with equal success, there are universal laws of child development that can guide our interactions with children and provide a healthy framework for decision-making concerning our children. OMMS is committed to working with our families to help you better understand the Montessori Method and philosophy and those universal laws of human development. By taking advantage of our vast resources, you will gain a better understanding of your child and forge an even stronger bond.
OMMS also has a strong Family Community and we encourage you to get involved and create a network of people with similar values and wishes for their children. OMMS recognizes that children thrive when families and schools partner to meet their educational and developmental needs. We encourage our families to actively participate in their children’s education.
Dr. Maria Montessori said, “Our care of the children should be governed not by the desire to ‘make them learn things,’ but by the endeavor always to keep burning within them the light which is called intelligence.”
